Abstract
A fit is made to the elastic scattering data at Ge for the reactions , , , and , employing the eikonal Regge model of Frautschi and Margolis. It is shown that the model is capable of explaining all aspects of the existing data, with the exception of the total cross section, where our fit does not flatten out as much as the high-energy results from Serpukhov. Extrapolating to still higher energies, we predict that the total inelastic cross section should increase by 15% from 10 GeV to GeV, a result of interest in connection with recent cosmic-ray observations by Grigorov et al.
