Abstract
Methods of producing monodispersed aerosols and the pharmacologic and therapeutic applications of liquid aerosols are discussed. The influence of pharmacologic aerosols on the actual pulmonary volume, the action of antagonistic substances on the lung volume, gaseous exchanges after breathing pneumodilating and pneumoconstricting aerosols, the use of pneumodilating aerosols on dyspneic patients, the use of antibiotic aerosols in respiratory diseases, the uses of liquid aerosols in many pathologic conditions of the respiratory tract and for improving the respiratory capacity in pre- and post-operative patients, and the systemic effects of liquid aerosols are considered. In hygiene, he discusses air-sterilizing, insecticide, and fungicide aerosols, and aerosols used for dust control and smog protection. His list of 641 references is provided with a subject index.
