Abstract
This review deals with the determination of monoamine oxidase, the properties of the enzyme, its distribution, in tissues, its inhibition in vitro and in vivo, its possible metabolic functions (in, for instance, the deamination of histamine, epinephrine, norepinephrine, tyramine, tryptamine, and serotonin), and its possible relation to diseases (such as impaired intestinal motility, liver disease, carcinoid, mental illness, and hypertension). Keywords
