Electron Capture into then=3States of H by FastH+Impact onN2

Abstract
Electron capture into the 3s, 3p, and 3d states of hydrogen has been measured for 10-35 keV proton impact on N2. Polarization of the 3d2p and 3p2s radiations resulting from the collisions has also been measured. The cross sections for the production of Balmeralpha radiation have been calculated from the 3s, 3p, and 3d cross sections and compared with those of previous investigations. The 3d cross section is about equal to the 3s cross section at 10 keV, but decreases monotonically as the energy is increased to 35 keV.
