Abstract
A model is proposed for the effect of dose-rate on the survival curve leading to a set of differential equations, which are solved numerically. Parameters of the model have been fitted to published data on survival of HeLa S3 cells, and a satisfactory fit obtained. Resulting survival curves have a dose-rate dependent component together with an exponential component independent of dose-rate. Reasons are given for expecting the exponential component to be relatively independent of the oxygen effect.
