Abstract
The transmission of a 4 × 10 Gbit/s OTDM data sequence is demonstrated for the first time over 406 km of non-dispersion shifted fibre. Four wave mixing in a 2 mm long semiconductor optical amplifier was used to compensate for dispersion via mid-span spectral inversion. A record 45 dB signal-to-noise ratio in a 0.1 nm bandwidth was obtained for the spectrally inverted signal. Keywords
