Bromides in Spinal Fluid and Serum

Abstract
Simultaneous determinations of total halide, bromide and chloride in serum and spinal fluid of man and dog during recovery from bromide intoxication show that the transfer of bromide between these fluids differs markedly from that of total halide or of chloride. This is taken as evidence of secretion. During recovery bromide passes from spinal fluid to blood against a concentration gradient, and the rate of loss from spinal fluid is frequently greater than that from blood, indicating secretory activity of the cells of the arachnoid villi.
