Abstract
Infections with penicillinase-producing staphylococci can be treated effectively with new bactericidal agents that are relatively low in toxicity. Orally effective preparations are available. The antibacterial spectrum was broadened somewhat, and the problem of penicillin hypersensitivity was ameliorated by the advent of cephalothin. Careful monitoring and avoidance of injudicious use of these antibiotics will prevent the development of resistant strains. Keywords
