Abstract
Summary of results of dietary production of atherosclerosis in animals since Ignatovski''s report in 1908 of the effect of egg yolk and milk fed to rabbits emphasizes that in man, monkey and dog the saturated fat content of the diet, rather than its cholesterol content, determines effects on plasma lipid and arterial intima. The relation of human diets and disease, including rapid rate of atherogenesis in adolescent white males eating diets rich in animal fat, conforms to the experimental data and establishes their relevance. Keywords
