LX-Ray Intensity Ratios of U, Th, Pb, Ta, and Lu byα-Particle-Induced Emission

Abstract
The L X-ray intensity ratios L α1,2Ll, L α1,2L β2,15, L α1,2L β6, L β1L η, and L β1L γ1 were measured for the elements U, Th, Pb, Ta, and Lu by ionization of L-subshell electrons from 26-MeV α-particle bombardment of thin elemental foils. Comparison of the measured ratios with theoretical transition-rate ratios obtained from a relativistic Hartree-Fock-Slater model showed agreement within experimental error for those cases in which photopeaks were separable.
