RIBOFLAVIN DEFICIENCY IN THE PIG

Abstract
Riboflavin deficiency in the pig is characterized by retarded growth, corneal opacities, changes in the skin, hair and hoofs, and by hypoglycemia associated with but not apparently the direct cause of the terminal collapse. The chief autopsy findings in 4 pigs were changes of corneal epithelium in 4 animals, microscopic hemorrhages of adrenals in 3, lipid degeneration of proximal convoluted tubules in 2, and lens cataract in 1 animal.
