Effect of Hypoxemia on Edema Formation in Perfused Isolated Rat Hind Limb.

Abstract
A soln. of 20% washed dog red blood cells in 0.33% gelatin in Krebs-Ringer''s soln., either oxygenated or nitrogenated, was perfused through rat hind limbs via a pulsatile pressure pump. Rate of edema formation was recorded continuously. The O2 content of the perfused blood fell below 5.5 vols.% before an increased edema rate was observed.
