Abstract
Docosahexaenoic acid was isolated from South African pilchard oil. Some of its properties were determined and its degree of purity was discussed. The main component is probably 4:7:10:13:16:19-hexaene. The structures previously assigned to docosahexaenoic acids of marine origin are discussed. Keywords
