Abstract
The "akamushi" group contains all of the chiggers that have been proved to transmit scrub typhus. Trombicula myotis, a. chigger found on the bat Myotis lucifugus, is a member of the group and is the 1st sp. of the group to be recognized from N. America. It has been collected in Maine and Penna.Keywords
