Monte-Carlo calculations of two- and three-body ionic recombination

Abstract
The recombination of positive and negative ions in a dense ambient gas is studied using classical Monte-Carlo trajectories. The models used represent Kr+-F- in Ar and (Na+, K+)-Cl- in flames with mixtures of H2, N2 and O2 at temperatures between 1800 and 2400K. The relative importance of two-body and three-body processes, and the branching ratio for the production of neutral atoms or molecules are explored.
