Experimental High-Resolution Investigation and Shell-Model Interpretation of theCa49Ground-State Analog

Abstract
Excitation functions for Ca48(p,p) at 165° and 105° have been measured from 1.93 to 2.01 MeV.Inaddition, the reactions Ca48(p,n)Sc48 and Ca48(p,nγ)Sc48 have been observed. Spins, parities, total and partial widths have been assigned. Eleven resonances are observed, eight of which have Jπ=32 and are associated with the Ca49 ground-state analog. These 32 levels are interpreted in terms of a detailed shell-model calculation. The importance of 4p3h and higher configurations is noted.
