Abstract
An extensive review of the literature (324 titles cited) furnishes many reasons for believing that the phospholipids of animal tissues fulfill some other (not yet detd.) function than that of intermediaries in the metabolism of fat, possibly to transport O2 by virtue of an easily reversible oxidation at the double bonds, or to contribute in some purely physical way towards cellular activity. This publication has 25 references indexed in Scilit:
