Abstract
The activity of brain proteolipids in the production of allergic encephalomyelitis was studied. Proteolipid A was found to be the most active of the proteolipids in the production of encephalomyelitis. When proteolipid A was split into its component protein and lipid fractions, its activity was markedly decreased. Following extraction of proteolipids from whole brain, another encephalito-genic factor, soluble in ether, was found. Finally a protein, isolated from the total lipid of guinea pig brain, was also capable of inducing exptl. allergic encephalomyelitis. Keywords
