Abstract
P-Nitrotoluene was converted intop-nitrobenzoic acid in nine species of insects. The most rapid oxidation occurred in houseflies. In isolated locust organs, most oxidation occurred in fat body and gut. p-Nitroethylbenzene was converted into l-(p-nitophenyl)ethanol by locust fat-body homogenates; traces of p-nitrophenylacetic acid were also formed.
