THE RÔLE OF INSULIN IN CARBOHYDRATE METABOLISM

Abstract

The important action of insulin is in bringing about the storage of sugar at the time it is absorbed. When large amts. are absorbed by the diabetic organism, a large part, whose disposal insulin aids, must be changed to fat. Evidence is presented that an important action of insulin is to accelerate this transformation. Without insulin this conversion is either greatly retarded or does not take place at all.
